The Mexican host families

Your host family is central to your Fenix experience. Family members provide real life language practice plus an intimate experience with Mexican culture. What's more, they are glad to have you with them. Fenix chooses its families carefully, taking into consideration the accommodations they can provide, their education and occupation, their warmth and openness. Most Fenix families have plenty of experience with foreign visitors and can accommodate a wide range of needs (such as dietary restrictions), personalities, and levels of Spanish. They pledge to speak to you only in Spanish. Your family will provide meals (Mexican food is delicious!!!), language practice, help with transportation, advice, and friendship. You will have a comfortable room with clean, modern bath facilities. Whether you come alone or with a group or a friend, we will place you with a Mexican family glad to accommodate you. As different as they are from one another, all our host families have one thing in common: unsurpassed Mexican hospitality.

Prices
Homestay, including three meals a day, in a shared room costs $18.00 (US) per day; a private room costs $24.00 (US) per day. Per week this comes to $126.00 (US) or $168.00 (US).

During an internship, including the orientation period, your homestay will cost $18.00 (US) per day for a shared room, $24.00 (US) for private. You will need to pay this monthly, in advance. If you stay three months or longer you will find it cheaper to rent a room or apartment, and Fenix will help you do this if you like. Expect rent of approximately $200.00 (US) per month.

Hotel
For those who wish to stay in a Hotel, we have a special agreement with the Hotel Villa Santa Rosa in Cuernavaca. It is a small hotel (just 11 rooms) in a very cosy atmosphere near to the center of the city. If you wish to stay there, it will be a pleasure for us to make a reservation for you.
